Hi there. My name is Basil Papademos. I will be the editor of what will hopefully become a web-zine called Magnetic City... I'm doing this out of Toronto, Canada, though that isn't relevant to the site. Perhaps it's optimistic, but I'd like update the site every week to ten days. So, wait till the first "issue" goes up, have a look at it- and if it seems to be something you can relate to why not try writing a piece for it- or put together an image... I can't promise to accept all submissions but I'll certainly carefully read them or look them over... Wish me good luck, I'm going to need it. |
The purpose of this site has no specific purpose... Over time perhaps it will develop something resembling a personality... Right now I plan to use it as a place to put up some stories, ideas, maybe some images... various stuff contributed by people I know... Informally, it will be called Magnetic City... You know, that irresistible urge we all sometimes feel... Anyway, come back once in a while and see what's up... I promise I'll try to keep it interesting... basil papademos June '98 | ||||||||||||||||
Writing that will be suitable for Magnetic City: First of all, no greeting card type poetry. And obsenity is fine as long as it serves some contexual purpose in the story. Even if that means being vulgar just to be funny. If it is in fact funny then yes, by all means, curse all you want. And if anyone out there doesn't agree, well, write me a story half as good as anything by Charles Bukowski. Let's see, what else... No research papers, report, studies, etc. Non-fiction has to have some current relevance. No history essays. Fiction of 1000-3000 words in length would be ideal but I'll consider serializing anything really long. The number one criteria be that you can write, you're not a self-serving semi-literate baboon and that you have some talent and style... Okay? Good. So send me whatever you think is right to the e-mail address at the bottom. I'd prefer you send stories as file attachements but if you can't do that send it in the body of the e-mail.
